Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained comprehensive health care training with an importance on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to address difficulties ranging from normal disorders like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet routinely encounter.
