Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received wide-ranging healthcare education with an emphasis on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. They are trained to manage problems stretching from typical problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical education which give them the expertise needed to perform surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid numerous troubles which the feet generally encounter.
