Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive medical training with an emphasis on conditions involving the feet and ankles. They are studied to deal with issues extending from simple ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which furnish them the experience vital to perform surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many problems which the feet normally encounter.
