Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programmes are located within these schools. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained comprehensive medical training with an emphasis on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are qualified to deal with problems varying from general conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which furnish them the experience required to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against numerous issues which the feet typically encounter.
