Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained encompassing health care instruction with a stress on issues involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to care for problems ranging from simple problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which supply them the skill necessary to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and prevent a large number of troubles which the feet normally experience.
