Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes lie within these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired substantial healthcare training with a focus on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address problems extending from simple conditions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which give them the skill essential to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatric doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of issues which the feet routinely experience.
