Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in reality various podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical training with a concentration on conditions involving the feet and ankles. They are educated to address problems varying from commonplace afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which provide them the experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those troubles that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid numerous problems which the feet generally experience.
