Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in point of fact various podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received encompassing medical training with an emphasis on concerns pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to manage conditions varying from typical conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which provide them the practical experience crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and protect against a large number of problems which the feet typically encounter.
