Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained substantial health care training with a concentration on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. They are qualified to address difficulties varying from basic ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot.
