Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in reality many podiatry programs are contained within these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received substantial health care training with a main focus on difficulties involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to address complications varying from typical afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet regularly encounter.
