Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest about ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and actually several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received thorough healthcare training with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat concerns ranging from regular disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which give them the prior experience crucial to execute surgery on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet routinely experience.
