They spend approximately ten years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and actually numerous podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical training with a focus on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are instructed to care for concerns varying from regular problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which give them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of many issues which the feet usually encounter.
