Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programs are contained within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical training with an emphasis on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat conditions ranging from regular afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid numerous complications which the feet usually experience.
