Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest about ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact various podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive medical training with an importance on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are qualified to treat concerns ranging from common conditions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which provide them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet normally encounter.
