Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical education with a focus on complications regarding the ankles and feet. They are qualified to treat difficulties ranging from normal disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which provide them the prior experience essential to carry out surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet normally experience.
