Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained considerable health care education with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. They are taught to treat conditions extending from regular disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the skill necessary to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent countless troubles which the feet frequently experience.
