Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located inside these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received thorough medical training with a concentration on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat issues ranging from general ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet regularly experience.
