Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually various podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical training with an emphasis on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to handle concerns stretching from usual problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which furnish them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet typically experience.
