Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive healthcare training with a concentration on issues concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to address issues ranging from typical afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which furnish them the expertise required to execute surgery on those complications that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet generally experience.
