Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend around a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes are located within these schools. At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging health care education with an importance on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to deal with problems ranging from simple conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the expertise necessary to perform surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent countless conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
