Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programmes are contained inside these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive healthcare education with an attention to on conditions involving the feet and ankles. They are instructed to handle conditions stretching from common conditions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which give them the skill crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against a large number of troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
