Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have acquired thorough medical training with an emphasis on complications regarding the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat conditions ranging from common problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which give them the experience needed to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against numerous complications which the feet typically encounter.
