Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and various podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical training with an importance on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat complications extending from conventional afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which give them the experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet routinely encounter.
