Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive medical instruction with an emphasis on conditions concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to deal with difficulties ranging from normal afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which provide them the practical experience needed to perform surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of countless complications which the feet usually encounter.
