Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality several podiatry programs are contained within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained wide-ranging medical training with an importance on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat conditions stretching from simple disorders such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience essential to perform surgery on those issues that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous conditions which the feet usually encounter.
