Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained considerable medical training with an importance on issues involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to treat complications extending from conventional ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which supply them the practical experience necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of countless issues which the feet generally experience.
