Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes lie within these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received substantial medical instruction with a stress on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are trained to address issues ranging from common problems for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which give them the expertise essential to perform surgery on those concerns that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatric physician to create footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet typically encounter.
