Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received significant medical training with a focus on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are trained to manage concerns ranging from basic conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the experience needed to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet typically encounter.
