Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend about 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive health care instruction with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to handle concerns varying from general ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those concerns that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and protect against many problems which the feet typically encounter.
