Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in about ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive medical instruction with a main focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to treat concerns extending from regular conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which provide them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet usually experience.
