Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote around a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received significant medical instruction with a concentration on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. They are qualified to deal with complications ranging from commonplace ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which supply them the prior experience required to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid a large number of issues which the feet generally encounter.
