Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote an average of a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained comprehensive health care training with a stress on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to treat complications extending from familiar ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the expertise needed to perform surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet usually encounter.
