Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programs lie inside these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained comprehensive health care education with an emphasis on problems regarding the feet and ankles. They are instructed to handle complications ranging from conventional problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical education which give them the skill required to execute surgery on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and help prevent many conditions which the feet generally experience.
