Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and many podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive health care education with a focus on issues regarding the ankles and feet. They are instructed to deal with complications extending from regular afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which give them the skill needed to conduct surgery on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many troubles which the feet regularly experience.
