Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and many podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant medical training with an importance on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat problems ranging from usual ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which provide them the practical experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet regularly experience.
