Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and a number of podiatry programs are contained within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical education with an attention to on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are trained to treat problems stretching from typical problems such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which supply them the skill necessary to conduct surgery on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of countless issues which the feet regularly encounter.
