Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received encompassing medical education with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to deal with difficulties stretching from normal conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the expertise essential to carry out surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and prevent many complications which the feet regularly encounter.
