Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained thorough medical training with an importance on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to treat problems varying from regular conditions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which provide them the expertise required to perform surgery on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet commonly encounter.
