Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote approximately a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact many podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.
At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained significant healthcare training with an emphasis on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to address issues stretching from standard ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.
Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of countless issues which the feet routinely encounter.
