Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and actually several podiatry training programs are contained within these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained encompassing medical education with an importance on complications concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to manage problems ranging from common disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the skill essential to carry out surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet commonly encounter.
