Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend around a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in reality a number of podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive medical instruction with a concentration on complications involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to care for concerns varying from conventional problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet usually encounter.
