Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received encompassing healthcare instruction with an emphasis on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. They are trained to address difficulties ranging from familiar disorders like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which give them the practical experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against numerous problems which the feet usually encounter.
