Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programs are contained within these schools. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained considerable health care education with an importance on concerns pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to handle conditions ranging from standard problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which provide them the expertise necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet generally experience.
