Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained comprehensive medical instruction with an attention to on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to deal with problems ranging from common disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which furnish them the expertise crucial to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid a large number of complications which the feet regularly encounter.
