Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and several podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive healthcare instruction with a main focus on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to deal with problems stretching from commonplace afflictions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which give them the skill crucial to execute surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid a large number of problems which the feet commonly experience.
