Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest about a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received significant health care training with an emphasis on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to manage complications stretching from regular problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet generally encounter.
