Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and many podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained considerable healthcare training with an attention to on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to care for issues ranging from conventional afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of complications which the feet normally encounter.
