Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and actually a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired substantial medical education with an emphasis on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to manage concerns ranging from typical conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the experience needed to execute surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent a large number of conditions which the feet generally encounter.
