Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and actually several podiatry programmes lie within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical education with a focus on complications concerning the feet and ankles. They are studied to handle difficulties ranging from common disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet frequently experience.
