Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact many podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive healthcare instruction with a stress on issues involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to treat difficulties ranging from standard problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which furnish them the skill necessary to perform surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet commonly experience.
